A violent mob of religious extremists has demolished a Hindu temple in the Teri town of Karak on Wednesday. The Temple was actually a Samadhi (shrine) of a Hindu saint and it was of utmost religious importance for the Hindu community. According to eyewitnesses, the mob consisting of more than thousand people was being led by the seniors of a religious party. They also discussed that the mob got violent after a protest which was arranged by the same religious party to demand the removal of the Hindu temple.
Irfan Ullah, District Police Officer – Karak, has confirmed that the attack did not cause any harm to the respective community because there are no Hindus in the area. He also discussed that the local people had called on a protest however, they had assured to remain peaceful. Unfortunately, a cleric provoked the protestors which made them violent.
A video footage of the attack on Hindu temple is getting viral on the social media. A number of journalists, politicians and human rights activist condemned the attack. Journalist Mubashir Zaidi tweeted;

Minister for Religious Affairs Noor-ul-Haqq Qadri termed the attack as a conspiracy against sectarian harmony in his tweet.
Chief Justice of Pakistan also took notice of the incident and has announced hearing on the matter on January 5th, 2021. Owning to the pressures from the national activists and international community, the police has arrested 14 people last night who were allegedly involved in the attack.
