OIC Meeting and Role of Pakistan

OIC Meeting hold open ended virtual emergency meeting in Jeddah on Sunday 16 May 2021 to discuss Israel and Palestine conflict in Gaza.

Israeli attacks are cowards: Foreign minister of Palestine

The 57 Nations Organization of Islamic Cooperation opened virtual emergency meeting on Sunday todiscuss Israel and Palestine conflict on Gaza.

In the beginning of the meeting Riaz Malik Foreign minister of Palestine stated that Israeli attacks are cowards.

According to the Arab League and Organizations like the Saudi-based OIC that palastine should have their own free state.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud opened the OIC meeting by urging the global community to end the escalation in violence and revive peace negotiations based on a two-state solution.

The 57 member body accused the United Nations Security Council. Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei issued a separate statement on Sunday, tweeted by Malaysia’s premier, calling for an emergency UN General Assembly meeting.

Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates called for a ceasefire. “De-escalation and the highest degree of restraint are important to avoid dragging the region to new levels of instability” said UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem al-Hashimy.

The OIC statement called on Israel to respect Muslims’ access to Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third-holiest site in Islam, as well as stop settlers from forcibly evicting Palestinian families from their homes.

Pakistan demands immediate stop the Israeli violence on Gaza in OIC.

The foreign minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi was addressing an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) where he lambasted Israel for its tyrannical measures, which include bombing Gaza and killing scores of innocent children.

Israel is violating human rights laws in Gaza, slammed the foreign minister. “The attack on the Palestinians is a violation of international laws as well”.

Blaming the Israeli Army for killing unarmed Palestinians, the minister said it was up to the international community to take concrete measures to stop the bloodbath in Palestine. 

“Pakistan condemns Israel’s aggression in strong words,” he said. “Israel’s aggression in Gaza should stop immediately.”

The foreign minister also thanked the OIC for arranging an emergency meeting to condemn Israeli atrocities in the region.
