PSL season 6 soon to be held in Dubai

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has got permission from the authorities of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to hold the remaining matches of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 6 in Dubai. The matches were cancelled earlier in March 2021 as various players tested positive for Coronavirus.

According to the reports, the UAE has granted permission to arrange the remaining matches of PSL 2021 in their territory however it has not been decided that whether the matches will be played on the ground of Dubai or Abu Dhabi. The dates of the rescheduled matches have also not been confirmed yet.

According to speculations, the remaining PSL season 6 matches are most probably to be held in Dubai while players and staff members will be asked to get tested for COVID-19 from the nearest laboratories on May 18, 2021. The UAE authorities have made it mandatory for all to stay quarantined for 10 days.

PCB was looking for a way to reschedule the remaining 20 matches of the PSL league 2021. PCB was forced to suspend the tournament on March 4, 2021 as a couple of players tested positive for COVID-19.

PCB was eager to resume the remaining season of PSL season 6 2021 and scheduled matches in Karachi from June 1, 2021 but the government has not replied to the PCB’s proposal. On Friday PCB proposed Dubai as an alternate option but UAE has imposed some restrictions on travelers. Besides holding an event in Dubai is a bit tough for PCB due to shortage of time.

There are many arrangements and visa issues that need to be taken care of. Also according to the UAE policy for international passengers, every individual needs to be quarantined for 14 days. Pakistan’s Cricket team has to leave on June 23, 2021 for a series in England.

That means PCB has a short time to continue with the remaining matches of PSL season 6 2021 and can’t take out time for making arrangements, quarantine, net practice, and matches. PCB is negotiating with UAE authorities and trying to schedule matches of PSL from June 1st to June 17th. PCB is also considering to arrange 2 matches a day which is not easy due to hot weather conditions.

Before 14 matches of PSL season 6 were played of which both Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi played 5 matches and have 6 points each. Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars also have 6 points and both teams played 4 matches. Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators are at the bottom of the score table with 2 points each and both have played 5 matches.

Hope the organizers of PSL season 6 2021 will soon take a decision and grant an exciting treat to cricket lovers.
