Sixth match of PSL season 6 brought a victory for Islamabad United against Karachi Kings
On Wednesday, after a breathtaking match of PSL season 6 between Karachi Kings and Islamabad United at National Stadium Karachi, Islamabad United won by 5 wickets and 5 balls in hand despite of a huge target.
The PSL season 6 has just started and it is already making people crazy. The sixth match of PSL season 6 begun with lot of expectations from both Karachi Kings and Islamabad United, both teams played really well and projected huge scores. The target of 197 runs projected by the Karachi Kings increased the chances of their victory. The supporters were expecting Karachi to win points to give a competition to Lahore Qalandars on points table while Islamabad United seemed to be struggling at 13 runs on the score board with two wickets gone.
The toss of sixth match of PSL season 6 was won by Islamabad United and elected to field first. The openers, Babar Azam and Sharjeel Khan from Karachi Kings stepped into the ground with good spirits and performed really well with lots of boundaries to fill up the score board faster. The bowlers from Islamabad United lost grip on the game when Sharjeel Khan hit back to back boundaries. Khan struck one four and five sixes in just two overs. Babar Azam was no different from Khan, with his good performance with bat he has become the leading scorer in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Sharjeel was caught out but the umpire declared it a NO ball, after that he scored 105 on 59 balls with nine 4s and eight 6s. The partnership of 176 between Babar Azam and Sharjeel Khan was the highest opening partnership in PSL’s history. Consecutive fall of wickets of Azam and Sharjeel ended their partnership and Karachi ended their innings with 196 for 3.
As Islamabad United stepped into chase the big target of 197 runs, things didn’t seem to be in their favor. Islamabad lost two wickets at the very beginning of the innings. Then Alex Hales took the matter in his hands and hit back to back boundaries, it was the most expensive over in PSL’s history bowled by Amir Yamin. His seven balls costed 29 runs by Alex to team Karachi. He scored 46 runs on 21 balls with eight 4s and one six. Hales was named player of the match. Iftikhar Ahmed 49 not out and Hussain Talat 42 helped Islamabad United to big chase of 197 in sixth match of PSL season 6. The Islamabad United team chased the target with five wickets and five balls in hand.
Right now with the end of sixth match of PSL season 6, Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United are ruling the points table with first and second position respectively with 4 points each. Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi are on third and fourth position respectively with 2 points each while Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators are at the bottom with no score at all.

The sixth match of the PSL season 6 has brought one more good news for the PSL supporters. The National Command Operation Center (NCOC) has allowed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to have 50% attendees in the stadium to enjoy the match. Before only 20% crowd was allowed, whereas from Friday stadiums can be filled with 50% crowd but SOP’s should be followed strictly due to COVID.
On Thursday (today), a match between Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans at 3 PM will decide who will get the points and what will be the new positions of teams on points table.
